The Institute Free-space Stereogram (IFS) Exercises, developed by Professor Bruce Evans, are designed to train convergent fusional reserves. They include four exercise cards (18 targets) with: varying separation of targets to elicit a wide range of vergence angles, suppression checks, several different types of targets and stimulation, and checks to ensure that the patient is doing the exercises correctly.

There are brief practitioner instructions and very detailed patient instructions so that the exercises can be fully carried out at home. The IFS exercises can be used to treat the following conditions: decompensated exophoria at near, binocular instability, convergence insufficiency, and intermittent exotropia at near.
